Art Journey 8: Farm Breeds

This is certainly a painting with impact.  A magnificent North Ronaldsay ram with the most amazing fleece and horns.  I knew that to make this work it needed to be large, so it is approx 20x28 inches.  I so enjoyed the challenge of getting the spiralled horns to appear to come out and forward.  He is just so alive.  I do like to seek out and capture the essence and soul.

We are just so lucky here in the UK to have such a wonderful diversity of animals on our farms, some are very historic and others rare.  I like to share these animals with you to raise awareness of this - I do seem to have an affinity with herbivores!
